20 People Who Broke The System By Following The Rules To Absurd Extremes

They say rules are made to be broken. And judging by how crazy some of them are, it’s no surprise. However, following them to their absurd extremes can be even funnier. Indeed, these 20 wise guys and gals clearly know what they’re doing, and it’s hilarious.

If you’re going to leave a note, you’ve got to be more specific. Hang what out, exactly? Indeed, it’s no wonder this unwitting son pegged up the note. We can’t imagine his mom was too happy about it, but she’s only got herself to blame.

“Take some pictures with your selfie stick,” she said. And few could argue that that’s exactly what this obedient husband did. We’re pretty sure this is how selfie sticks work, anyway. Right? What else could they be for?

Well, you can’t argue with a sign like that. After all, you wouldn’t want a park ranger to come round and tell you off, would you? There’s only one thing for it: putting your poor pooch in the trash. Sorry, Fido, it’s the law.

This is about as specific as a sign can get, so really, you can only applaud the person following it to its absurd extremes. In fact, it’s so specific that we can’t help but wonder whether the sign was actually erected after he turned up with his pad. Sadly, we’ll never know.

If you’re going to make a massive list like that, you’ve got to make it fully comprehensive. Of course, it’d be easier just to go with “no wheeled vehicles,” or some other catch-all term. Otherwise, you end up with smart-ass dudes like this. Still, you can’t blame him for being inventive.

Okay, the system is well and truly broken now. In fact, we’re pretty sure the whole universe is about to implode with such a paradoxical response as this. Questioning “question everything” is surely going to result in some kind of causality loop, right?

Here’s a life lesson for you: never jokingly ask your server for a “very small check.” Because if they’re anything like this cunning waitress, you’ll be one-upped before you have time to say “keep the change.” However, we hope these guys rewarded her humor with a very big tip.

This guy was apparently told to wear a “plain tie” to dinner. And like any good sport, he’s clearly taken the order far too literally. Still, it’s clear that one day, he’s going to make a great father. After all, he’s already mastered the terrible dad joke.

To be fair, with a sticker like that, they were just asking for trouble. Why would anyone ever agree to a license agreement without knowing what was on the disc inside? If ever there was an appropriate time to follow the rules to an obnoxious degree, this would be it.

Hands up who thinks the curb was the mastermind behind this sign? After all, we bet it gets pretty lonely down there on the floor. Indeed, all it needs is a bit of love and attention. Thankfully, this guy is prepared to take the notice just literally enough to give it.

Who knew bikes were given such priority on the Golden Gate Bridge? Not this guy, apparently, or he might have chosen to cycle across it. Instead, he’s left to squeeze through the tiny pedestrian path. Alas, the system has well and truly crashed.

This guy’s wife asked for a generic, normal birthday party. And, clearly, he was apparently only too happy to oblige. Though considering the thought and effort that’s gone into following that instruction to an absurd level of detail, we can’t imagine she was too displeased.

While it’s hilarious that so many people have taken this sign so literally, perhaps we should be more worried about the person who signed it with a cross. Then again, it’s surprising that so many people carry pens into the restroom with them. Eww! We hope they washed their hands before attacking that note.

We’re pretty sure this is the start of a crazy plan by the deer population to take over the world. First, they get people to unwittingly donate money to their cause. From there, it’s only a few short steps to enslaving all humans. Right?

Whoever was behind this sign should probably have gone with the more traditional, and far more sensible, “look with your eyes, not your hands” phrasing. As is, there’s no wonder this guy has followed it through to its absurd end. After all, who wouldn’t?

The genius responsible for this sign needs to have a long, hard look at themselves. The arrow isn’t even pointing directly to the button in question. Moreover, why would anyone need a diagram for how to push a button? Of course it’s just going to confuse matters.

Yes, good sir, that’s exactly what the person behind this sign intended. After all, what else could it possibly mean? Also, he’s lucky he had a watch with enough give to allow him to store his phone under it, and thereby take this absurd sign to its logical destination.

Well, we suppose it’s better than literally shoving a guy named Bill into the machine. Then again, chances are someone will no doubt have already tried that one. However, this was probably easier to photograph.

Well, you can’t argue with that logic. After all, she’s definitely covered herself up. And it’s not her fault the sign didn’t specify where exactly needed to be covered. Indeed, this protest move exposes the absurdities of the rules on multiple levels.
